It provides a gentle initiation to the equipment at a relaxed pace, distinct from our more advanced classes. We suggest attending at least 8 sessions or transitioning to the open class when the instructor deems you're ready, whichever occurs first. However, the decision to switch to the open class is entirely up to you; there's no obligation after the initial 8 sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Have a question that's not listed here, contact us today, our expert team will answer any of your questions

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates that focuses on strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness. It emphasizes controlled movements, proper alignment, and breath awareness to achieve a balanced and strong physique.

What is reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a variation of traditional Pilates that utilises a specialised piece of equipment called a reformer. The reformer consists of a carriage that moves along tracks, springs for resistance, and various attachments for different exercises. It provides added resistance and support to challenge and enhance the effectiveness of Pilates movements.

Is Pilates suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Pilates is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels, including beginners. Our instructors are experienced in providing modifications and adjustments to cater to each participant's abilities and ensure a safe and effective workout.

What should I wear to a Pilates class?

We recommend wearing comfortable, form-fitting workout attire that allows for freedom of movement. Grip socks are required for hygiene and safety on the equipment, and you may also want to bring water and a towel for added comfort during the session.

How many times per week should I attend Pilates classes?

While consistency is key, attending Pilates classes 2-3 times per week is generally recommended for optimal results. However, listen to your body and adjust your frequency based on your individual goals, schedule, and recovery needs.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

We provide all the necessary equipment for your Pilates session, including reformer machines, props, and accessories. However, feel free to bring your own water bottle for hydration during the class.

What can I expect in a typical Pilates class?

Each class typically begins with a warm-up to prepare your body for the exercises ahead. You'll then move through a series of exercises on the reformer machine, targeting different muscle groups with an emphasis on core strength and stability. The class will conclude with a cool-down and stretching to improve flexibility and promote relaxation.

Can Pilates help with lower back pain or weight loss?

Pilates can be highly effective in addressing lower back pain by strengthening core muscles, improving flexibility, and promoting proper alignment and posture. Many individuals experience relief from chronic back discomfort through regular Pilates practice.

Additionally, while Pilates itself may not directly lead to weight loss, it can contribute to overall body conditioning and muscle toning, which may support weight management efforts when combined with a balanced diet and cardiovascular exercise. Our instructors are skilled in tailoring Pilates workouts to target specific areas of concern, including the lower back, and can provide guidance on incorporating Pilates into a comprehensive wellness plan aimed at achieving weight loss goals.

Are classes suitable for pregnant women?

Yes, we offer specialised prenatal Pilates classes that are safe and effective for expectant mothers. However, we advise consulting with your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program during pregnancy to ensure it's appropriate for your specific situation.

What is the difference between group and private sessions?

Group classes provide a fun and motivating atmosphere while allowing you to feed off the energy of others. Private sessions offer personalized attention and programming tailored to your specific goals and needs, providing an opportunity for more focused instruction and progression.
